Sophie is an FNQ born and raised violist who loves to perform. She has always felt at home in the symphony orchestra, but enjoys exploring all avenues and genres of music. Since completing her degree at the Queensland Conservatorium under the tutelage of John Curro AM MBE, she regularly performs in the Brisbane freelance scene. Sophie broke into professional chamber music in 2020 as one of Camerata's Upbeat Emerging Artists, and was appointed Artistic Associate in 2025.

 

She adores the intimacy of chamber music, especially in an ensemble of close friends. She also performs with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Cherubim, and works as a session violist for artists such as The Jungle Giants. Additionally, Sophie plays in her folk duo Old Semeil, who have been together since 2016, releasing several singles and two albums.
